Domain renewal and billing dates are out of sync

You are likely reading this article because you received an email that shows your domains renewal date and noticed that your Webhero control panel shows a different renewal date. Why are the dates different? What does it mean and do you need to do anything?

Here's an example of your domain reminder email.

Here's an example of your control panel which shows a different renewal date.

Why are the dates different and is this a mistake? The date in the email indicates the month that the domain was originally registered and it doesn't matter where the domain was originally registered. If you registered your domain in the month of January, it's true renewal date will always be in January and reminder emails will always state January as the renewal date regardless of what the your control panel says.

The fact that your renewal date is different reveals that your domain was transferred to Webhero on or near the date displayed in your control panel. In this example, the domain was originally registered in January and a request to transfer it to Webhero occurred in the month of May. In our example, Webhero will always expect payment for the domain on or near May 5th.

Is this a mistake? No, the customer signed up in May for one year of service and will not be charged again until May of the following year.

Do I need to do anything? Possibly. If you receive an email that states your domain is scheduled for renewal and your control panel says it's not due yet, it's best not to ignore the discrepancy. The safest thing you can do is to make sure your billing information is up to date so that your domain can be renewed when it is time.

We do understand that it can be a little confusing and will happily sync your control panel renewal date with the true domains renewal date on request.

There are several options to reach us to get this taken care of, you can:

2. Open a live chat session with us by clicking on the live chat icon in the lower right of the screen.
